Current Concept of Nongonococcal Urethritis


Abstract
Over thy past 10 years the incidence of venereal diseases especially nongonococcal urethritis (Chlamydia, ureaplasma urealyticum and herpes virus etc) have increased remarkably, so that the obstetricians is obligated to search for sexually transmitted disease in every patient.
Recently, between 30 and 67% of acute salpingitis is associated with chlamydia infection, and less than 10% of all salpingitis is associated gonococcus in Scandinavia.
Particulary hepatitis is endemic disease in our country, therefore this is of special interest to physician, obstetrician and gynecologist, and others who provide health care. In pregnant women, these venereal disease have potential risk to the successful completion of the pregnancy because of ill effect upon the mothers.
Some are hazard to the fetus as a result of in utero or neonatal infection.
Recently major advance have been made in understanding the epidemiology and biology of the sexually transmitted diseases. The literature is reviewed concerning about possible reason for the increasing in the incidence of this disease and effective management and prevention, especially in pregnant women.
